History and description

Refuge Pastore is one in a group of restructured mountain huts situated in the heart of the Alta Valsesia Natural Park, leaning onto the spacious grassy plains of Alpe Pile under the spectacular south wall of Mont Rosa (1575m).
It sleeps 65 in rooms of 4/6 beds and has 2 dormitories, one sleeps 12 and the other 16. Communal bathrooms connect the hut at 20m from the rooms and has toilets, wash basins and hot showers.
The refuge also has a camping area and a WINTER ROOM that can be used during the closed period.

The refuge can be reached from Alagna via 2 possible routes

Route 1: from Wold, 1km outside Alagna, continue walking on the asphalt road for about 3km until the town Acqua Bianca, where there is a waterfall with the same name that merits at least 1 photo before you turn onto trail n°6.
The spacious muletrack which is quite steep at certain points, provide beautiful panoramas like the waterfall of Caldaie del Sesia. This easy, short trail guarantees that everybody has the possibility to reach the refuge.
Distance in time from Alagna: 45/50 min.
Distance in time from the square in Acqua Bianca: 20 min.
Route 2: From Wold, 1km after Alagna, continue walking on the asphalt road for about 1.5km until the town Sant'Antonio, where there is a small church. About 50m after the church, before the bridge, near a large rock, is the start of trail n° 6. The route to the refuge is easy, but quite steep to climb.

Alagna-Natural Park Shuttle Service
A shuttle service connects Piazzale del Wold with Piazzale dell'Acqua Bianca. (cost: €2 per person)
Service is guaranteed every weekend from 2nd June to 17th July; everyday from 23th July to 28nd August and every weekend from 3rd September to 2nd October.
>From 7am to 6pm no-stop service from Wold. Every hour from Alagna (Municipility parking)

Mont Rosa is the beginning and continuity of the history of Alagna,the small Walser village clinging to its southern wall. The refuges of Monte Rosa ( Margherita Hut, Gnifetti Hut, Refuge Barba Ferrero, Refuge Pastore and Refuge Carestia) are all part of its history and Alpine tradition and are the proud results of those who wanted and managed them for more than 100 years
